Hi, I’m Sam!

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in San Diego, offering telehealth therapy across California.

I work with teens, young adults, older adults, parents, and couples navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity exploration, neurodivergence, and healing from trauma. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a deep belief that growth happens when we feel safe, seen, and supported. Especially in the messiness of being human.

I see therapy as a collaborative space. I’m not here to "fix" you, but rather to sit beside you with empathy and openness as you begin to explore what’s no longer working, connect to your inner strength, and move toward a more connected, balanced version of yourself.

My style is affirming, energetic, and warm, with space for humor, honesty, and deep reflection.

You can’t pour from an empty cup

Before starting my private practice, I worked in community and school-based settings, supporting students and families with complex emotional needs. I also worked alongside teachers, parents, and caregivers—the people who give so much of themselves while quietly running on empty.

That experience taught me how deeply we all need spaces to refill our own cup. Today, I bring that same compassion and awareness to my work with clients who show up for everyone else but are learning to show up for themselves, too.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Palo Alto University, and my Bachelor’s Degree from Duke University.

Outside the Therapy Room

I’m originally from North Carolina and now call California home. You’ll often find me hiking a new trail with my dog, Hazy, or catching a college basketball game at a local brewery with friends.

I’m also a certified yoga teacher and longtime yoga and mindfulness practitioner - tools I often bring into the therapy room to support mind-body awareness, grounding, and healing.

I’m so glad you’re here, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

Therapy with me is a space to get curious, reconnect with yourself, and to rediscover what calm and wholeness feel like.

It’s a place to lean into the full range of being human—the joy, the pain, the uncertainty—and make sure your cup gets filled, too.
